Serena Shughoury is a senior from Valparaiso, Indiana, double majoring in Neurobiology & Physiology with minors in Psychology & Philosophy and a certificate in Learning Beyond the Classroom.
Outside of serving on the Leadership Committee of Purdue Mortar Board Barbara Cook Chapter, she is the President of Middle Eastern North African (MENA) Women of Purdue, the Director of Events and Community for the Southwest Asian North African (SWANA) Student Union, a member of Ad Liberation Improv Troupe, a mentor for the Women in Sciences Program, a volunteer for the Brain Exercise Initiative and Franciscan Hospice, and a member of the Muslim Student Association. Moreover, Serena is involved with Neurotoxicology and Alzheimer's Research and will be a Teaching Intern for BIOL 32800 in the Spring. Previously, she served as Treasurer for Middle Eastern North African (MENA) Women of Purdue, Events Coordinator for Southwest Asian North African (SWANA) Student Union, Treasurer and Secretary for Ad Liberation Improv Troupe, a Mentee for the Women in Sciences Program, and a Undergraduate Teaching Intern for BIOL 23100, as well as studied Neuroscience abroad in Salamanca.
After graduation, Serena plans to get a masters in Biomedical Ethics and then Medical School!
