Purdue Mortar Board chapter named chapter of the year

MB of the year at National ConferenceThe Purdue Mortar Board Barbara Cook chapter was recently named co-winner of top chapter of the year at Mortar Board’s national conference.  The Ruth Weimer Mount Chapter Excellence Award is considered to be Mortar Board’s highest national honor. In order to win, a chapter must go through a rigorous nomination process and stand out as possessing strong scholarship, leadership and service characteristics. Purdue tied for the award with the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

 Bailey Farrer, vice president of marketing for Mortar Board, said that the application process was a big undertaking. “The award,” she said, “says a lot about the dedication of the students and advisers at Mortar Board.”

Founded in 1926, the Purdue chapter is one of 231 chapters of Mortar Board. The chapter is named after a retired Dean of Students, Barbara Cook, who worked as an adviser for Mortar Board from 1956 to 1986.
